Artists Statement
Linda Duffy's artistic practice explores places and the people that inhabit and interact with them.
In particular, she is interested in places of transition, change and intersection - places where multiple and parallel realities, memories, stories and imaginings exist.
To tease out these stories, Duffy engages in a process of getting to know the place. This process may take the form of conversations, collecting and cataloguing objects and fragments, archival research, taking photographs, and making drawings and tracings of incidental marks and stains left on surfaces.
The findings of these investigations are then pieced together to create an installation, mapping or other form that evokes a sense of the place.
